Ruth: If you mean the Richard that is linked to from your site, I knew him years ago and when we stopped going out he did the same to me. When we started talking again a few months later, he said he had decided space was what was needed. But he will be in touch if I know Richard. Guys forget the hurt and move on easily, and I have no doubt that he will talk to you again one day. Does he have a new partner? If so, he's probably been told that talking to you is a bad idea. He might think otherwise but is respecting her wishes. If he hasn't found someone new then maybe he thinks that it will hurt you both less by staying away. Give it some time, you never know
